Lars took some steps through the nicely decorated ballroom, gracefully moving across the room. His little cape fluttered a bit behind him as he moved. He certainly enjoyed the sights around here. There wasn’t a person who hadn’t
As the night had been progressing, Lars had the pleasure to dance with several pretty girls already. Since many girls wouldn’t pass up the chance to dance with a handsome vampire. He didn’t know if he knew any of them, but that was the point of this ball, wasn’t it? He had taken an effort to hide his own identity as well. For a change, his hair was gelled back smoothly, instead of being in it’s usual gravity defying state. The scar on his forehead was covered up by his mask, so he wouldn’t be recognized by that either. Though then there was also a thing he couldn’t really do anything about: his height. Being about two meters tall, Lars wasn’t one who was easily overlooked.
But that also gave him the ability to look over the crowd easily, and pick out his next victim. He spotted her (well, he thought it was a girl) not far away. With those wings, she was hard to miss, honestly. Lars was surprised he hadn’t noticed her before. Though now he had seen her, he made his way over. As he came closer, he didn’t know so sure anymore if he was approaching a female. It was either a flatchested girl, or a guy in a dress. But at this point, Lars didn’t really care about that. He had set his eye on the fairy, so he was going to approach them either way.
“Hello stranger.” The Dutchman greeted in a smooth voice. “Care for a dance?” He held out his arms a bit, in an inviting gesture. He send a smile the other’s way, baring his teeth a little so his sharp canines were revealed. They were fake of course, just pieces of plastic, but that didn’t stop them from looking real.

Attending this ball had been, in the beginning, one of Matthew’s worse ideas.
Upon reflection, the teenage boy realized that maybe he had brought some of the misfortune upon himself. He was the one that was willingly wearing a rather short dress after all. In retrospect, dressing as an “Autumn Spirit” probably wasn’t his best idea. Six times already he had been mistaken for a girl and, while Matthew quite appreciated the attention, he would really have preferred for them to get the gender right, at least.
The blonde snorted a little into the drink of some sort of pumpkin cider he held in his hand. The pumpkin, he had determined after some sniffing and turning over with a ladle, was one of the only drinks that had not been spiked already. He shouldn’t have expected anything better of college-aged kids – This was normal behavior, after all. But deep down he really had wished that they hadn’t already gotten to the cherry-flavoured one. Oh, well. Pumpkin would do.
The fairy had actually received rather sparse attention that night, truth be told – He would have expected the wings alone would have gotten more heads to turn, but it seemed that even with a mask on the Canadian blended straight into the background. His lips turned downward in a bit of a scowl and he swirled the pumpkin-flavoured beverage around in the plastic glass again. He was grateful that the few that had chosen to touch him had been wearing gloves. Secret would have been ruined if a Kermode Bear had started walking around with huge fairy wings…
”Hello, stranger.”
Matthew straightened a little, his cup of pumpkin juice being sat on the table as he waited for a fraction of a second before glancing over his shoulder. A… vampire? His painted lips quirked a bit at the corners at the sight. The man wasn’t unattractive looking in the least. At least, not what Matthew could see… And that was a lovely mask.
”Care for a dance?”
“You… You’re asking me?” he raised a hand, his right one, and pointed the index finger at his face. His voice was so soft, so effeminate, that it was gender neutral (he guessed it only added to the confusion of his gender… But what the hell. Let them think what they wanted, just for tonight) and barely audible above the music that floated through the air. “You’re actually asking me?”
He didn’t mean to sound so stunned, and to shift from foot to foot, effectively making his wings flutter just a hint – Like a genuine fairy might if they were a little on the shy side. But the arms were extended to him and… That smile was rather charming somehow, even with those fake teeth in place. He had to resist the urge to giggle underbreath. Certainly, they set the entire costume off, but…
’They’re adorable,’ he let himself think as he bit the inside of his cheek to stifle the bubbling amusement. “I apologize for sounding stunned… It’s just, no one has asked me tonight. You’re the first…”

When the fairy turned around, Lars got the chance to take a better look at the person he had asked to dance. In his mind he was still debating over the gender of this person. Their voice didn’t help him decide either. But Lars was rather experienced in looking at the ladies. And no matter how feminine the outfit was, the Dutchman couldn’t make out the curves females normally had. And then he wasn’t even mentioning the lack of breasts. So Lars eventually decided that this was most likely a male. Not that Lars minded, on the contrary actually. It was a bit rare to find a guy who would look this good in a dress.
The insecurity the fairy showed at being asked to dance was nothing less than adorable. “I’m looking at you, aren’t I?” Lars confirmed. It actually made his smile grow a bit. Though he took care not to let it change into a grin, as to not fall out of his role of a blood sucking seducer, that countless of stories had made vampires out to be.
Through the evening, Lars had getting more and more adjusted to the role of a vampire. His actions were smooth, and his voice low, maybe a bit sultry even. In a normal situation, he wasn’t one for acting, preferring not to beat around the bush. Even now he still kept his directness, though the roughness he normally had was gone. For occasions like these, he would gladly make an exception, and act a bit like someone different. Nobody could see who he was, after all.
He was a bit surprised to hear that he was the first to ask the fairy to dance. The winged creature was cute, to say the least. The costume itself should attract enough attention on its own, not to mention that it fit this person very well. “I should consider myself lucky that I caught your first dance, then.”
While saying this, he took the liberty of slipping an arm around the other already, and leading him towards the dance floor. Like any other self respecting vampire, Lars was wearing gloves. Though they weren’t there just to complete the costume, they were also a precaution. Since this was a dance, people would be touching each other. And Lars wasn’t planning to be dancing with a hippo instead of a human all of a sudden. Believe me, he had heard tales about that happening to people in the past.

Matthew’s cheeks had tinged a soft shade of pink when the vampire had confirmed that, yes, he was looking at him, so it must have been him that he was talking to. He wasn’t used to this sort of attention, especially in large group settings like this. Despite wearing one of the more ostentatious outfits, the blonde had completely expected the usual to happen here – He would arrive, look the best that he could, and be completely ignored in the background. He could make being a wall-flower into a profession, truth be told.
He had not expected his night to twist around like this.
The vampire in front of him, who was now speaking about being lucky to be the one to claim Matthew’s first dance (The fairy could feel his cheeks redden worse as he thought about it – Coming from a man dressed as one of the most sexual creatures created by man’s imagination, it sounded less like he was claiming a dance and more claiming Matthew’s virginity to his ears), was a good change in events, at the very least. Alright, he would correct himself. He was a wonderful change in events. It assisted that, so far, this particular individual was one of the most charismatic (read : attractive, sultry, impressive, God-I-wouldn’t-mind-knowing-who-you-are) that he had seen the entire evening and he was asking the FAIRY, of all people, to dance with him!
Well, less asking and more demanding, Matthew found as an arm snaked around him. He had to admit, this forward nature was such a nice change from the usual…
“L-Lucky?” Matthew stammered out slightly as he averted his flushed gaze behind his mask and bit on the inside of his lip. That arm around him felt rather nice – How long had it been since he’d been touched like that? Eh, thank God for clothing assisting in keeping the touch apart. Now, if he just didn’t get emotionally overwhelmed it would be fine. “I ‘unno… It seems kinda pathetic I’ve been here from the beginning and hadn’t been asked until you.”

Even as Lars confirmed that he was asking him to dance, the fairy still continued the insecure act. He could only wonder what had caused him to be so insecure about himself. But it wasn’t annoying to the Dutchman. If anything, it looked charming on him. Lars let out a low chuckle. “It’s like you’re trying to convince me I made the wrong choice by asking you.” With the hand that wasn’t occupying the other’s waist, he ran a couple of gloved fingers along the other’s bare neck, staring at the soft skin as if he was interested in biting it. Then he snapped his eyes up again to look the other in the eye. “But you won’t be escaping me now.”
He let his accent sound a bit thicker than usual as he spoke. The legend of vampires originated from Romania, if he wasn’t mistaken. His Dutch accent didn’t sound a lot like a Romanian one, but anyone who wasn’t from Europe probably wouldn’t be able to hear the difference. Maybe he was getting caught up in his role to much, but teasing this fairy was more fun than he had expected. They both couldn’t see who the other was, so he figured it would be okay for tonight.
The Dutchman guided the other to the dance floor. He shifted his arm on the fairy’s waist a bit to be in the right position, while taking a hold of one of the other’s hands with the other one. His dancing skills weren’t perfect, but he knew the basics of some dances, so that was enough to get by now. He started to lead his partner across the dance floor in a slow waltz. Due to the other’s timid nature, Lars could lead the dance in the directions he wanted, and he was fine with that. He wasn’t a guy who liked to be dragged around by someone, instead preferring to be in charge himself. Besides, it would look rather odd to see someone in a dress lead the more male looking of the two.
Lars took care to avoid bumping into others on the dance floor, though he found himself getting distracted by his dance partner. He never took his eyes off of him during the dance. The maple leaf shaped mask covered most of his face, but Lars could identify a blush around the edges of it. It made him want to know who was beneath it. It wasn’t like he would be able to recognize who is was, seeing as the Dutchman hadn’t really met any people beside his roommates yet. But still, he was curious.

Matthew had gasped when the vampire ran his fingertips down his neck, and realized, with some level of discomfort, that his stomach had knotted tightly – Was he nervous? Excited, even? He bit his tongue slightly and suppressed the urge to allow himself even a small shudder despite how much he longed to. The Canadian had never been particularly interested in vampires before, especially the sort that used pseudo-Romanian accents to attempt “accuracy”, but on this man… It worked. It also left Matthew very painfully interested, enough that at this point even if he HAD wanted to flee…he couldn’t.
“But you won’t be escaping me now.”
“Oh, God,” Matthew had mumbled underbreath as the shiver he had been trying to suppress finally overtook his body.
The blonde didn’t offer resistance this time as he was led to the floor, nor did he voice any complaint as the vampire’s hand fell upon his waist. Instinctually, he placed his hand upon the other’s shoulder and gave it a gentle squeeze – Almost as if he was giving silent permission as he slipped his hand flush with his partners. A waltz? A waltz he could do. Timid as he was, he still could recall the steps he had been taught. He closed his eyes and, for a moment, tried to just let himself go.
He tried to forget that he was dancing with what he had no DOUBT in his mind anymore was a handsome man. He tried to forget that he was in a dress and would be mortified if anyone he knew found out about that little fact (Kuso was bad enough – The Cuban dressed in the plague doctor outfit had not left him alone about it for HOURS), especially his brother. Damn the blonde boy, he’d probably take pictures and PASTE them over the school. Matthew gave a horrified shudder at the thought, then opened indigo eyes again and…gasped.
The vampire was watching him so intently… The knot inside him built again, and his tell-tale flush skittered across his cheeks. How was he supposed to respond under a gaze so…intense? He bit his lower lip slightly, just enough that it puckered, as he tried to find his voice again.
“Y.. You’re staring at me,” he whispered softly, eyes averting a little, as if they were frightened to continue holding the gaze – truth be told, Matthew thought he would melt under it. “Why?”
(I apologize about not posting this sooner – I thought I did, then I got busy with Halloween and stuff, and…yeah. Tons of crap. BUT HAVE AN EMBARRASSED FAIRY. damn your Lars is hot.)

A subtle smirk never left the Dutchman’s lips as he led the other across the dance floor. A smirk that only grew wider when he felt that squeeze on his shoulder. He liked this more and more by the second. It was amazing how his subtle actions could provoke such cute reactions from the blond.
The light stutter in his voice as he asked him why he was staring at him was nothing less than utterly adorable. Lars shrugged lightly. “I don’t know where else I should look, when I’ve got someone like you right in front of me.” And he wasn’t even exaggerating, or just trying to flatter the fairy. He really did not know where else to look. He could look around the crowd, but when he was dancing with someone, it felt like his attention should be aimed at that person. Also, he didn’t mind it one bit to focus his attention on the little fairy.
Whoever he was dancing with, Lars had decided that he liked him. He had definitely managed to catch his interest. So far, Lars had kept a respectable distance from the other during the dance. Though in a situation like this, you can’t blame the guy for wanting to get closer. Using the crowd around them, that occasionally closed in on them, as a cover, he casually pulled the fairy a bit closer as to not bump into others. Though once they got enough room again, Lars didn’t take his previous distance from the other again, instead keeping him close.
It was a pretty bold move, but Lars liked it that way. There was a chance the fairy hadn’t even noticed that their close proximity was something Lars desired, and just thought about it as a way to avoid crashing into other couples. Lars didn’t really give it to much thought. If the fairy didn’t agree with his actions, he would notice soon enough.
(( OoC: It’s okay. I wasn’t really hanging around here for a while anyway. ^^;;; But I kind of back now. Thank you~. Your Matt is adorable~! ))
